Is a red dot sight worth it for a shotgun?

Today we're going to talk about using a red dot sight on a shotgun, a precise way to aim at an animal and make a quick shot. And what better way to take advantage of this opportunity than with a detailed review of one of the most innovative products in this field: the Aimpoint® Acro® S-2 .

Why is the red dot so widespread?

In recent years, the use of optical devices such as red dot sights for shotguns has become common among hunters. The red dot allows hunters to quickly acquire a target, even in low-light situations or under high pressure, which is why its use has increased in big game hunting.

Red dot hunting is especially useful when seeking greater precision, as instead of aiming directly with traditional sights, the red dot allows for quick, eye-open aiming. This system is ideal for hunting with rapid movement and during the northern drives we love so much, where timing and precision are key.

Can you imagine catching the wild boar of your life in a closed area with short shots? I'd definitely use a shotgun with a red dot, since a rifle is more awkward to aim and requires a scope with very low magnification.

Aimpoint® Acro® S-2 Features: Innovation and Reliability

Now, let's take a closer look at the features of the Aimpoint® Acro® S-2 , a product that is making a difference in modern shotgun hunting.

  • 50,000 Hours of Runtime : With a single battery, the Acro® S-2 can operate for up to 5 years at full power, making it an extremely reliable and long-lasting option for any hunter.

  • Submersible to 5 meters : Sweden, like other Nordic countries, has very variable climates and terrain. The Acro® S-2 It is water resistant, meaning it can withstand rain or even short immersion, ensuring reliability in extreme conditions.

  • Lightweight at 68 grams : This red dot sight is extremely lightweight, making it comfortable and easy to handle, without adding extra weight to your shotgun.

  • Versatile optics for all shotgun applications overlapped with a ventilated band. It is important that they are not made of carbon fiber.
  • Ultra-low carbon fiber reinforced integrated rib mount : interchangeable base plates included to accommodate most rib sizes (6-12mm)
  • Optical axis height of 15 mm (0.6 in) measured from the top surface of the mechanical interface
  • 10 intensity settings with higher maximum settings for bright sky conditions
  • Dot size 9 MOA

The Aimpoint® Acro® S-2 has proven its robustness and reliability under extreme conditions. Furthermore, its closed system ensures the device functions regardless of the weather conditions. This is a key factor, especially in regions like Sweden, where hunting takes place in cold and wet climates.

It was there that we were able to test this device on a goose chase in the Swedish marshes.

If you're a hunter looking to take your accuracy to the next level, the Aimpoint® Acro® S-2 may be the key to improving your performance in the field. Are you ready to try it?
